JOHNSON CITY - Elizabeth "Sissy" Lance, age 83, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away October 21, 2023, from multiple health issues at the Johnson City Medical Center.
She attended, and was a member of, Mountain View Baptist Church.
Elizabeth was the daughter of the late John and Beulah McKinney. She had a great love for cats, Elvis, talking on the CB radio, and roller skating.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry H. Lance on October 21, 1989. They were married 26 years. Also preceding her in death were her five siblings, Laura Edna Carathers, Louise Lynch, Blanche Adams, James "Jim" McKinney, and John W. McKinney; her fur babies, Bessie, Princess, Snowball, Harley, and Sassy; and her grand fur babies, Sugar Raye, Que Si, and Buster.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Greg Barrett; grand dog, Dozer; her cat, Taz; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We want to express a very special thank you to Josh Webb, RN, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and treated mom like family, loved her, and made sure every need was met during her entire hospital stay.
We also want to thank the staff of ICU 2700, 4200, 4300, and 2200, and Heather, RN, Wanda, CNA, and Allie, LPN, of Princeton Transitional Care.
Elizabeth's family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, with a funeral following at 7:00 pm. There will be a private committal service at Monte Vista Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are directed to the American Kidney Foundation (kidneyfund.org), American Heart Association (heart.org), or Appalachian Highlands Humane Society (https://ahhumanesociety.org/).
