Rev. Dr. E. Dwight Hobbs May 31, 2024
JONESBOROUGH - Rev. Dr. E. Dwight Hobbs, 70, of Jonesborough, TN passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at his home after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Earl P. and Inez M. Hobbs. In his passing, he concluded a 47-year long ministry, having pastored several churches in this area. The most recent pastorate was with Cherokee Baptist Church in Jonesborough, serving that congregation for 16 1/2 years.
He received the diploma from Tennessee Military Institute, Sweetwater, TN; Bachelor of Science in Communications, East Tennessee State University; Master of Divinity, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX; and Doctor of Ministry, Luther Rice Seminary, Jacksonville, FL.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Fox Hobbs. In addition, he is survived by his children, William David (Brooke) Hobbs and Damaris Ann Hobbs. He has one grandson, Landon Elliott Hobbs.
He loved to work with wood and developed his own business named "As The Rev Turns". In this work, he enjoyed participating in various craft shows all over this region. He was a member of the Tri-Cities Woodworking Club, Gray, TN and the Northeast Chapter of Tennessee Craft.
Services for Dr. Hobbs will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, at 8:00pm. Visitation will precede the service from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Rev. Brian Holloway will officiate the service.
Burial services will be held on Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024, at 10:00am at the Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Rev. Steve Pate will assist with this service.
Pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends. Those attending the burial service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:45am.

Donna and family, I am saddened by Dwight´s death. Unfortunately, I didn´t find out about his death until We´d. I am so sorry for your loss. Dwight always had a smile on his face. I will be praying for your family, Donna. Love you. Jean Jackson
