Be it known by all that David A. Rau was a loyal member of the Coffee Club (otherwise a fine gentleman), first at Java Joes and then at Watusi for 25 years. His dry wit, Navy stories, and proud talk of hisfriends and family (especially new grandson Mack) were a trademark and sorely missed by all. Our regret at the table is that, sadly, it appears that we will not have the opportunity to meet this 'accomplice' Norman Rau. However, we did have the opportunity to meet, and thoroughly enjoy, many friends from his life growing up as a boy to his recent travels. We have also are enriched by getting to know his lovely wife, Molly, and adoring children Claire, Allen, and Maddy. Karen Carpenter and the Ohio State marching band may never know what a faithful fan they have lost, but those of us touched by this very special man's life most certainly will and we will forever miss him. RIP David

So sorry to be learning just now of the passing into the next life of my great Colgate classmate and ATO Fraternity brother, with whom I had an amazing month of January, 1969, touring by any way we could find all around the island of Jamaica, including 4 days of non-stop hearts-playing at a camp during a rainy deluge of that same length right near Ocho Rios. He was always so fun-loving -- great to be around. Also remembering his classy and classic bright yellow Oldsmobile 4-4-2, in which the Good Lord saved us from certain disaster on an icy country road late one night driving back from a looking-for-girls road trip to Oneonta. As we skidded straight towards a right-angle bend in the road, suddenly the car came out of the skid and he managed to make the turn. He also set an unofficial record of speed from Cazenovia to Hamilton in that same car -- but thankfully I was not along for that ride! May his precious soul rest in the Peace of our All-Gracious Lord, and may his Memory be Eternal. With love and prayers, Dr. David C. Ford, '71 (aka Ray Charles; aka Kitchen Man)

My sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of Mr. Rau. I worked at the Norwalk Reflector when he was the CEO and had great respect for his wisdom, guidance, and experience. May he rest in peace.

A generous, thoughtful, funny, interesting bother-in-law that loved my sister Molly and all of his family. We are all very sad on his passing. A toast to David, and sleep sweetly.

It was a privilege to know him. I offer my sincere condolences to Molly and the rest of your family. He was one of the great ones, and the last time I saw the two of you at our 50th reunion I was reminded how glad I was to have grown up with you. God bless you and your family.

Too many memories. All were good and fun with Molly and Norm included. We all must go but some too soon.
