GRAY - Danny Kay Birchfield, age 69, of Gray, TN, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He passed peacefully at his residence surrounded by his precious family. He was born in Johnson City, TN, to the late Arnie Birchfield and Mary (Miller) Birchfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Birchfield and Terry Birchfield.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Janet (Lewis) Birchfield. He still enjoyed holding her hand in the car while driving and during church services. They shared a great love.
Others left to cherish his memories include daughter Nioka Graves and husband Mike, son Danny Wayne Birchfield, son Calvin Whistine, daughter Helen Whistine of Gray, TN, and daughter Pam Nunley of North Carolina. Six grandchildren Ashley Miller, Nicko Calhoun, Kencie Nunley, Blake Calhoun, all of Gray, TN. Special great grandchildren Storm, Jordon, Nicko II, Jaivan, Josiah, Kaileyana, all of Gray, TN. Siblings include four sisters, Connie Colbaugh and husband Rick of Watauga, TN, Vickie Fillers and husband Bryan of Johnson City, TN, Teresa Holtsclaw of Bluff City, TN, and Angela Dugger of Gray, TN. Special brother-in-law, Bruce Lewis, and sister-in law, Pam Douthat and husband Mike. He also had many nieces and nephews. Danny was a Christian of the Baptist faith and attended River of Life Baptist Church in Piney Flats, TN. Danny enjoyed spending time and making memories with family and friends. He leaves behind many friends from TPI, where he continued to be employed. He never met a stranger, loved to talk and joke with anyone that would talk with him. He would do anything for anyone that was in need of his help. He was a very special person to many people.
His wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of Life will be held on Monday, December 9th, at River of Life Baptist Church from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at 819 N Austin Springs Road, Piney Flats, TN. The service will be officiated by Pastor Donnie Humphrey and Pastor James "Buddy" Cretsinger.

So sorry for your all's loss. He was a great guy. Always wanting to help. I remember when I got a car from his ex wife he helped me get the payments done correctly. Pam looked up to him. I know he will be missed.

Danny, you are going to be so very dearly missed. I don't even know what to say. You meant so much to do many. Always helping people any way that you could. You were always there when we needed you. Even if it was just to make someone smile or to teach one of us something. Big or small. You and Janet mean the world to me and always will. You taught me so much through out my time in your family and I will never forget it. Thank you for being you. You will forever be in our hearts.

I will never forget what you did for me. Helped me get my first car, co signed for me to buy 4 new tires for my car after I had two blow outs in one day. You took me into your home for about a year. Never charging me a dine. I love you and you have always been a special brother to me I will join you in heaven one day

I worked with Danny from 1993 to 1998 at Mr Green Thumb. I had and have not since worked with a finer man than him. He made every day we worked together better. I have often referred to him for his ingenious abilities to problem solve. I have many fond memories and offer my deepest condolences to the family.
