MEADOWVIEW, VA - Dakota Lynn Casey, age 29, of Meadowview Virginia, formerly of Greeneville, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 08, 2023, at his residence. He is a son of Jimmy Casey and Candy Hensley. Dakota lived most of his life in Greeneville before moving to Virginia.
He played football for Chuckey Doak High School and Patrick Henry High School. Dakota loved everything about football and his two favorite teams were the TN Titans and University of Tennessee. He liked girls, MMA fighting, joking around and Dakota loved life. He loved his daughter with all his heart.
Dakota attended The Upper Room Church.
Dakota was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Barbara Casey; his maternal grandfather, Orville Hensley and his Aunt Penny Aesque.
He leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his mother, Candy Hensley of Meadowview, VA; his father, Jimmy Casey of Johnson City; his daughter and light of his life, Violet Rain-bau Nye; two brothers: Josh Casey and Hunter Casey; one sister, Amber Casey; maternal grandparents: Linda and Bill Parker; paternal grandfather, Jimmy Casey; niece, Nevaeh Green; nephew, Leroy Green.
The Casey family will receive friends on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Cherokee Mountain Baptist Church in Jonesborough. Dakota's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kenneth Whaley officiating. Interment will follow in the Shelton Mission Cemetery, Horse Creek Community. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Casey, Hunter Casey, Tommy Reynolds, Bobby Casey, Buddy Peters and Lance Paul. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Casey and Bill Parker.
