JOHNSON CITY - Cheryl Charlene Freeman Laws, 94, of Johnson City, TN passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at N.H.C., Johnson City.
She was born August 15, 1929, in Carter County, TN to the late Charles and Lela Constable Freeman.
Cheryl was a sweet and compassionate lady who enjoyed teaching in the Washington County, TN, and VA school systems for over twenty years.
She was a graduate of E.T.S.U., having earned her B.A. Degree in Education & Fine Arts and was a long-time member of the Johnson City Community Theatre.
Cheryl enjoyed the arts and reading.
In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandson, Jamey Laws; brothers, James "Bud" Freeman and Joe Freeman; sister, Peggy Nelms.
Those left to cherish Cheryl's memory are her son, James "Bo" Laws; sisters, Barbara Rupert and Brenda Barnette; great-grandson, Aiden Laws; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, November 10, 2023, at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Jonesborough, TN. Family members will deliver eulogies.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of N.H.C., Johnson City, and Wendy and Vanessa for their compassionate care of Cheryl.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
