Charles "C.W." Winters June 1, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - Charles "C.W." Winters, 92, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, June 1, 2024. C.W. proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid lover of fishing, hunting, reading his Bible, gathering with family, and gardening - you would never catch a dandelion in his yard. C.W. retired from Pepsi, where he worked more than twenty years. Nothing was more important to C.W. than his faith and family. He was a devoted caregiver to his wife Jackie during the final years of her life. One of the last things he said was "God has been good to me".
C.W. was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Jackie Taylor Winters in 2020, his parents Fred and Mae Yelton Winters, a grandson, Charles Wise, and a brother, Glen Winters.
He is survived by his loving children, Barbara Taylor (Terry), Wayne Winters, Terry Winters (Delores Trent), and Pam Weaver (Tommy); grandchildren, Devon Winters (Jessica), April Winters, Sheyenne Fields (Brent), and Kendra Keylon; great-great-granddaughter, Rosa Paredes; brother, Howard Winters; sisters-in-law, Jean Langeroudi and Cindi Taylor; brother-in-law, Charles Taylor; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home. With Pastor James Ginley, officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday prior to the service from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
Graveside committal service will be held Friday at 12:00 P.M. in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 11:30 A.M. to proceed to the cemetery.
