Chad Whittamore Obituary

Chad Anderson Whittamore April 12, 1972- May 17, 2024

PINEY FLATS - Chad Anderson Whittamore, age 52, of Piney Flats, TN, passed away on May 17, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center from complications of alcoholism. He is the adopted son of Gail and Don Whittamore.

Chad was born in Maywood, CA, a city in Los Angeles County, on April 12, 1972. He was a graduate of Westlake High School in Ventura County, CA. After high school, he returned with his parents to live in Tennessee, where his parents were raised. In his younger years, he found work in the construction industry and enjoyed working with his hands.

Chad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gregg and Charlsie Hawk of Greeneville, TN and Bess and Arthur Whittamore of Kingsport, TN. Also preceded in death were several aunts and uncles: Ginger Hawk Rutherford, Maurice, Jack, and Fred Whittamore, and Aleen Brown.

The family wishes to thank the Johnson City Medical Center for their excellent care and many neighbors, friends, and family for their love, prayers, and support. During this time, the family requests that you call and visit at your convenience.

Special thanks go to Michelle Scalf and Jay Folmar for taking care of Chad during his illness. Thanks to Todd Rockwood, a childhood friend, for locating and renewing their friendship. Thanks go to good neighbors like David and Tammy Williams, who watched over his property after his house burned down. In addition, thanks for the longtime friendships of Alicia Smith (Oregon), Evan Baker (Florida), David Bevins (Washington), Randy Katome (California) and Darrel Coffey (Tennessee).

Since Chad had many memories from his youth of the Meadow Creek Community in Greene County, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to the Meadow Creek Presbyterian Church, 4850 W. Allen's Bridge Road, Greeneville, TN 37743.

Chad was a very close friend to my dad, and is in some of my earlier childhood memories. I'll never forget the loyalty that he showed to my daddy and the hospitality that he always showed to me and my brothers. Chad was a good friend who had a huge heart and he will be missed.

Gods blessing during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing the diagnosis of alcoholism, a terrible disease that affects so many families. You are in my thoughts and prayers as I lost a wonderful sister with the same disease. Tom
