JOHNSON CITY - Carmon Everett Landers, age 76, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Lakebridge, A Waters Community, LLC.

Carmon was born into the loving home of John Cross Landers and Hazel Maude Yates Landers of Washington County, Tennessee in 1947.

Carmon attended Science Hill High School, where he excelled at sports and played basketball with Steve Spurrier. He graduated from Science Hill in 1965. Carmon proudly served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. While stationed with his good buddy "Mac", their travels included time spent in Da Nang, Vietnam and in Okinawa, Japan.

After his tour of duty in Vietnam, Carmon would return to Johnson City where he would attend and earn his Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University in 1979. Carmon would then have a long 40-year devoted career with the Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Medical Center helping other fellow veterans along the way.

Carmon never met a stranger. He had a strong affinity for the "West Side Gang" and the Johnson City Boys Club. He was affectionately known as the "Ping Pong Champion of the World". His love for all sports, including ETSU football and UT football, showed his passion and competitive spirit.

Carmon's love for God, country, and family were evident every day in his life. He was a member of the Mountain View Church of Christ.

Along with his parents, Carmon is preceded in death by three fond and devoted brothers, Tommy Gene Landers, Randy Lee Landers, and James Earnest Yates, all of Washington County. There are many other family members that have preceded him in death that he cherished and loved very much.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include: his loving wife, Linda Lou Spears Landers; his daughter, Crystal Lee Landers; and his brother, Terry Tilman Landers and his wife Jerri Lee Walters Landers of Harvest, Alabama. He has a multitude of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he loved dearly. His great-uncle Earl Yates, "The King of Kiwanis Park", was a special family member that we cannot fail to mention.

A committal service for Carmon will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday September 23, 2024 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in the Historic section. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the National Cemetery by 1:50 pm.
