ELIZABETHTON - Bobby G. Blevins, 88 of Elizabethton passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 in the Hermitage Health Care Center of Elizabethton. He was a native of Mitchell County, North Carolina and was a son of the late Carrick and Stella Ledford Blevins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Jean Hambrick. Bob was a longtime member of the Word of Life Church in Johnson City. He was a veteran having served his county in the U.S. Air Force.
Bob dedicated himself to hard work, always striving for the best for his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman who loved the great outdoors. Bob loved mowing the many acres around his home and riding his dogs, Chloe and Remi on the gator. His greatest weakness was clothes and shoes, how he missed Steinmart. Bob loved his family with a fierce and protective love. He was so proud of his grandchildren and the little loves of his life, Finley and Millie Mae. Bob was loved by everyone he met. Many thanks to the VA Hospital for all the excellent care and love shown to Bob. Also, thanks to the staff at Hermitage Health Care Center for loving him so well.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mae Gleason Blevins; a son, Bobby Glenn Blevins and his wife, Larena of Elizabethton; three sisters, Ruth Garland of Johnson City, Judy Benson and husband, Jim of Murfreesboro and Wanda Young and husband, Bernie of Johnson City; a brother, Louie Blevins and wife, Glenda of Johnson City; a grandson, Tyler Blevins and wife, Ashlea of currently stationed in Japan; a granddaughter, Hannah Barefield and husband, Aaron of Texas; two great-grandchildren, Finley and Millie Mae Blevins; also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with Military Honors for Bob will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, November 3, 2023 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Joe Harrah and his brother Louie Blevins officiating. Pallbearers will be Bernie Young, Mark Davis, Tony Garland, Johnny Townsend, Danny Jones and Vince Hawkins. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM.
