JOHNSON CITY - Barbara Hodge, 82, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at her residence.
Barbara was born in Welch, WV to the late Gladys Wheelock Davis.
Barbara was of Christian faith. She received her associate degree as an LPN. Barbara later worked at Vaughn Empire and was a business owner. After retirement Barbara worked in childcare for 15 years.
Barbara was feisty but had a heart of gold. She was firm, but kind. Barbara raised her children on her own and supported her family, whom she loved very much. She enjoyed sports, especially Pat Summit and the Lady Vols. Barbara sponsored a softball team called Barb's Boys that she was very proud of. In her spare time, she liked working in her yard and doing crossword puzzles. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandkids who will miss her tremendously.
In addition to her mother, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Buddy Davis and sister, Debbie Cook.
Survivors include her sons, Dean Baggett (Kim), Johnny Baggett (Lisa), Dewayne Davis, David Hodge (Jessica); daughter, Denise "Sissy" Baggett; grandchildren, Skylar, Carla, Elisa, April, Kenny, Samantha, Kali, Ricky, Stephen, Storm, Dalton, Ciara, Tyler, Jay, Molly, Brooke; several great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The celebration of Barbara's life will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023, from 1:00-5:00 P.M. at her residence, 914 E. 8th Ave. Johnson City, TN 37601. The family would like to invite those who knew and cared for Barbara to come during that time to fellowship and share stories.
Special thank you to her grandchildren, Ciara Giglio (Stephen), Skylar Baggett, and Tyler Hodge for their help and care during this time. The family would also like to say a special thank you to the 2200 floor, especially Margaret, and the ICU team at Johnson City Medical Center. Also, Amedisys Hospice, especially Keith for the care and compassion given to Barbara during this time.
