BUTLER - Barbara Joan Whaley Finney, age 84, of Butler, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord and Savior at her home on Friday, July 21, 2023. Barbara was born in Old Butler on January 19, 1939 to the late Grady and Offie Holloway Whaley. In addition to her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Charles Finney in 2010; her sisters, Evelyn Ray Whaley and Betty Louise Whaley; and a brother, Grady A. Whaley, Jr. "Babe".
Barbara was a wonderful, thoughtful and Christian woman who loved her family and taking care of them. She was a member of Elk Mills Christian Church and loved going to church and being a servant of the Lord. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, drawing, cross stitching and working in her flowers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved sons, Bobby Gene Finney, Ricky Allen Finney and Chuck Douglas Finney all of Butler, TN; her loving daughters, Teresa Kay Ellis of Rogersville, TN and April Clemons, of Elizabethton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, James (Sandy) Whaley of Butler.
A graveside service to celebrate Barbara's life will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Lakeview Cemetery with Pastor Larry Pierson officiating. Active pallbearers will be chosen from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at 9:50 AM on Thursday at the cemetery.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Barbara's caregiver, Nikki Whaley, for her love and care given to Barbara during her illness and to Amedisys nursing staff for all their loving care and support during this difficult time.
