ERWIN - Anna Lea Peterson McCurry, age 84, of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 08, 2024, at her residence while she was surrounded by her family. She was born in Avery County, North Carolina to the late Buford Peterson and Pansy Hobson Peterson. Anna lived most of her life in Erwin.
She was of the Christian Faith. Anna retired from Unicoi County Memorial Hospital after thirty-four years of service. She loved being a nurse and took excellent care of her patients. Anna was loved by all her patients, doctors, and fellow nurses. Her family has continued to receive compliments over the years from Anna's former patients raving about what a wonderful nurse she was and how she took such great care of them during their hospital stay.
When the weather warmed up, Anna couldn't wait to work in her yard and tend to her garden. She loved her cats and made sure they were very well taken care of. Anna was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Anna leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of sixty-four years, David McCurry; her two sons: Michael McCurry and Ronald McCurry, all of Erwin; special friends: Patsy McCurry and Sue Baucom.
Anna's services will be private. She will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at their residence, 113 Fanning Avenue, Erwin.
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Dr. Gordon Moughon and Tina.
