Alfred Campbell Obituary

Alfred Ladue Campbell, Jr. August 14, 1944 - September 17, 2024

Alfred Ladue Campbell Jr., affectionately known as Al or Big Foot, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on August 14, 1944, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Al's life was a testament to his strength, love, and unwavering faith.

Al spent his final days in Elizabethton, TN, surrounded by the beautiful mountains that mirrored the resilience he demonstrated throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ruth, whose memory continued to be a beacon of love and comfort for him.

Al's legacy is carried on by his devoted family, including his daughter, Melissa Campbell; his son, David Carl, and daughter-in-law, Kimberly, of Texas; his stepsons, David Fred Sells and Darrell Sells; his brother, Ronald Campbell and his wife of Milligan; his brother, Alan and sister-in-law, Carol of Jonesboro; his sister, Brenda Paul of Johnson City; and his brother, Thomas Campbell. Al was also a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces who will miss his larger-than-life presence.

A proud alumnus of Science Hill High School, Al's education laid the foundation for his strong work ethic. He dedicated many years as a truck driver for American Limestone, where his reliability and hard work were well-known. Al also served as a driver for Net Trans and Dawn of Hope, where he was respected and appreciated by all who worked alongside him. His commitment to service was further exemplified by his time as a Marine, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried with him always.

Al's faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devoted Christian, he lived his beliefs through his actions and the love he showed to others. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Al's hobbies reflected his love for the simple pleasures in life. He was a master at canning, gardening, and making apple butter, sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. His carpentry skills were a form of creative expression, leaving behind pieces that will be treasured for generations. Al also had a deep love for the ocean, finding peace in its vastness and serenity.

Al's life was a journey of perseverance, love, and faith. His warm smile and generous spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories that will continue to inspire us.

Al's family will hold a Celebration of Life to honor his life on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 5:00-9:30 PM at New Hope Christian Church located at 4527 Bristol Hwy, Piney Flats, TN.

They wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have supported them during this time. Al's story is one of a life well-lived, and while he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will forever be a guiding light for his family and friends.
