Katie Barthelemy Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Katie Barthelemy, 80 years old, of Spokane, Washington, announce her passing, July 5, 2024.

Katie was born in Savannah, Georgia, May 16, 1944. She was a proud graduate of Beach High School in 1963. She was later able to attend college, in San Antonio, Texas, pursuing Nursing in 1975, while being a wife and raising two small children.

Katie is survived by two children: son, James L. Deen (wife, Jennifer), daughter, Tamickco Deen Jackson (husband, Marcus); and seven grandchildren.

Katie relocated to Spokane 15 years ago from Sacramento, California. She would proudly tell many people that she met, that she is a Georgia peach. And that she was. She was the epitome of a Southern woman. She loved to share southern dishes with many people that she met while traveling to different places. Katie enjoyed caring for others and brought a smile to many faces. With that and other amazing characteristics, it was fitting that she worked in a helping career field. Katie retired from the home health field, after working in various capacities for more than 25 years, including owning her own home health agency. Her favorite things to do were cooking, reading, traveling, and singing. She enjoyed sharing stories about her traveling experiences. Her favorite places that she traveled to were Greece and Hawaii. One of the things that she was most proud of was her family. If you did not know how important family was to Katie, you did not know her at all. Most importantly, she loved God and would share the miracles that she witnessed throughout her life.

At a later date, a celebration of life will be held to honor the life of an amazing woman, Katie Barthelemy.
