Mary Barclay Obituary

Mary Jean Barclay, 91, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in Sacramento, California.



Born on July 12, 1934, Mary was a graduate of Chico High School in Chico, CA. She built a long and dedicated career with AAA Auto Insurance, where she worked from 1970 until her retirement in 1998.



Mary was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carmichael and actively participated in her community. She volunteered with the Mercy Guild at Mercy Hospital, serving as a cashier in the gift shop. Her generous spirit and willingness to help others touched many lives.



Mary found joy in staying active-she was often seen walking her neighborhood and exercising regularly. A passionate sports fan, she supported local athletics as a member of the Jesuit Boosters. She and Jim shared a love for dancing and traveling, especially enjoying trips to Hawaii with friends.



She is lovingly remembered by her three sons: Sean, Patrick, and Joe; four grandchildren: Natalia, Ryan, Spencer, and Taylor; and six great-grandchildren: Rylee, Fenric, Madie, Kodie, Morgan, and Beau. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim; her mother Betty Matulich; Grandmother Grace Matulich Hunt; and sister Doris Konradi.



A Mass celebrating Mary's life will be held on March 5, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carmichael, California. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the SPCA.



Mary's warmth, energy, and devotion to family and community will be deeply missed. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
