Gary Neske Obituary

Gary Lee Neske was born on January 24, 1945 in Port Angeles, Washington to Elmer and Mary Neske. He passed away January 17th at Olympic Medical Center.

Gary graduated from Port Angeles High School in 1963 and then attended Peninsula College where he earned a degree in Fisheries. He was a lifetime resident of Port Angeles.

Gary served in the Army as an MP. He married Mary Ann Hansen in 1975. They remained married until her death in 2018.

Gary worked for the Department of Fish and Wildlife for a short time in Alaska. After returning from Alaska he was employed by Rayonier Mill until their closure. He then went to the Port Townsend Paper Mill until he retired.

Gary was a lifetime member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church where he served as an elder.

He loved the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and woodworker. Gary also loved to travel and he and his wife Mary Ann became world travelers.

He was a humble man. He loved history and was a storyteller, a man of faith, gentle and kind. God came first in Gary's life.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Neske, brothers Jim Neske and Rick Neske, and sister in law Gail. Gary is survived by his sisters Joan Pennington, Carol Neske, step-son Garrett Neske and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Our loss, Heaven's gain. He is now reunited with Mary Ann who was his one great love.

A private burial will be held for family members at Blue Mountain Cemetery on Tuesday, January 27th at 1:00PM. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Port Angeles on January 31st at 1:00pm.
