Charles Wesler Obituary

Apr 9, 1959 - Jan 24, 2026

Charles Emil Welser, age 66, of Lewiston, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Charles was born on April 9, 1959, in St. Clair, Michigan, to Andrew Welser and Rose (Huff) Welser, both of whom preceded him in death.

Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Army, who completed his basic training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma and served in Germany, ending his military career as a Private First Class. He was honored with the U.S. Army Achievement Medal and Army Service Ribbon. His service was a source of quiet pride and lifelong strength. Above all else, Charles was a loving and devoted father.

He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Welser (Dagan Falk) and Angela Havercroft (Drew), who were the greatest pride of his life. He showed his love through constant presence, unwavering support, and a deep devotion that never wavered. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughter, Ryleigh Havercroft, his best friend and the light of his life. She was his greatest joy and the center of his heart. Charles is survived by his siblings, who he referred to as his "best friends" (listed with deep affection): Andrew Welser (Patti Sherwood), Deanna (Jim) Osterland, Martin (Rene) Welser, Debbie (John) Berry, Joseph Welser, Paul Welser, and sister-in-law, Robin Welser. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Andrea (Dustin) Fett, Philip (Kali-Rae) Welser, Nick Osterland, Josh Osterland, Ashley Welser (Evan Michaux), Danielle (Brian) Oswald, Michael (Kristen) White, Britney Welser (Brandon Cook), Adam (Katie) Berry, and Daniel Berry; along with many cherished great-nieces and great-nephews.

Charles was a man who found peace in simple, meaningful things. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting squirrels and rabbits with his dogs, walking the woods, playing poker with friends and family, and spending time with those he loved most. Family time mattered deeply to him, and he made sure the people he cared about always knew they were important. Those who knew Charles will remember his steady presence, his kind heart, his quiet humor, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and devotion that will live on through his family. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
