Walter O Nevin, Sr passed away on Sunday, February 8th at the age of 98 years old. The family expresses their thanks for the loving care given from Horizon Hospice in his final days.
Born in
Saint Maries, Idaho to Orvid and Helen Nevin, he was #3 of seven children. He grew up in Spokane Washington helping his parents with a large garden, raising rabbits and chickens. He attended Logan School until the 8th grade and learned how to become a carpenter through his father doing hardwood flooring with Nevin Floors, served in the Army Airforce as a World War II Vet, also was a refrigeration technician before starting his own business of Quality Hardwood Floors in 1953 as a general contractor, serving the Inland Empire and celebrated 73 years in business. Today, four generations have been restoring hardwood flooring doing "Old World Craftsmanship." Walt became known as the "King of Hardwood," with a work ethic passed down to his children. He knew his customers well and worked until the age of ninety-two.
Walter was a man of many talents, became a World Champion as a Pro Bowler and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992-1993. His zest for life showed in everything he did. Known for his jokes, custom made poems and tunes. Playing Bumble-Boogie on the piano, passed along his love of golf, his green thumb growing huge tomatoes and his love of elephants are evident throughout the home.
He married the love of his life, Wanda. They traveled the world celebrating life together and enjoyed their sweet fur babies named Bear Bear, Foxy & Gizzy. Their blended family consisted of his (5) and her (4) children.

Survived by his sister; Shirley Nord and Children; Christine Cordova, Michelle Smith, Tina Wilkins (Steve), Walter Nevin Jr (Beth), and Stepchildren; Sherry Michels (Paul), Wendy Van Orman (Darren), and Kellie Sevier.
The successes of a man are felt by the family as he passed on his wisdom to all. Walter became a Grandfather with (22) Grandchildren, (20) Great-Grandchildren and (3) Great-Great Grandchildren. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, March 14th at 12:30 pm at Fairmont Memorial Park located at 5200 W. Wellesley in
Spokane, WA.
