Thelma Faye Murphy Rodgers Obituary

Thelma Faye Murphy Rodgers, 85, of Leland, Mississippi, passed away on September 3, 2025. She was born on January 6, 1940, to the late Guy Murphy and Thelma Murphy Franklin and grew up in Vaiden, Mississippi, where she attended local schools.
On November 17, 1955, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Rodgers. Together they shared more than 62 years of marriage, building both a family and a legacy. Mrs. Rodgers worked as the bookkeeper and co-owner of J.R. Salvage alongside her husband and also enjoyed a successful career selling Home Interiors for over 25 years.
A woman of deep faith, Mrs. Rodgers was a dedicated member of Glendale Baptist Church for 59 years, where she faithfully served as pianist for nearly 55 of those years. Her music and devotion blessed generations of worshipers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmie Rodgers; her brothers, Dewayne Murphy and Earl Franklin, Jr.; and her son, David Rodgers.
Mrs. Rodgers is survived by her son, Jimmy Guy Rodgers (Jenny) of Cascilla, Mississippi; her daughter, Delaine Carr (Tommy) of Vicksburg, Mississippi; her daughter-in-law, Lori Rodgers; her brother, Jimmy Franklin; her sister in law, Mary Murphy; three grandsons, Bo Rodgers, Drew Smith, and Will Rodgers; three step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory.
Her life was a testament to faith, family, and service, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday September 6th, 2025 at Glendale Baptist Church of Leland. The family will receive friends from 9 am until service time and interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens of Leland. Pallbearers will be: Drew Smith, Will Rodgers, Thomas Carr, Jason Franklin, Jeffery Franklin, Bo Rodgers, Ryan Chunn, and Nick Davis.
