Russell Howard Obituary

Russell Edward Howard of Dover, Delaware, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. He was 68.

He was born June 23rd, 1957, in Milford, Delaware, to Ruth Ann Messick and the late Charles Edward Howard.

Russell enjoyed cooking and sharing his love of music, often playing the organ and piano. He was deeply committed to his community, serving as an active leader with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and remaining a life member of the Roxana Fire Company. In his younger years, Russell shared his musical talents as part of a singing group. Professionally, he worked in testing and sterilization processing at Beebe Healthcare and later with Aetna, where he handled medical claims.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Ernest Fitzgerald

Russell is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Fitzgerald; his son, Kevin Howard; his daughters, Kerri Howard and Beverly Howard; his brother, Greg Fitzgerald; and his sister, Berta Mae Goodwin (Jim).

Memorial services will be held 2:00pm, Saturday January 31st, 2026, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. Friends and family may gather one hour prior.
