In Loving Memory of Nancy Schmidt
Our family is deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy Schmidt, who left us peacefully on October 27th, 2025, at the age of 89.
Nancy was born on November 20th, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Lloyd and Emily Jeffrey. As a young girl, she loved ice skating and competed in local competitions. She graduated from Rufus King High School and later married the love of her life, Edward Schmidt Sr., on September 10th, 1955. Nancy enjoyed a long and rewarding career in the banking industry and retired from M&I Bank.
Nancy was known for her friendly personality, warm smile, and zest for life. She took great pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren-her greatest joy was spending time with them. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting aroma of her delicious cooking-no one ever left hungry.
After retirement, Nancy and Ed made their home in Door County, Wisconsin, a place that became a cherished destination for family and friends. Time in Door County was always an adventure-whether it was sharing a home-cooked meal, taking a sailboat ride, enjoying a picnic at the beach, catching a local play, playing miniature golf, or stopping at Wilson's for ice cream. The memories made there will be treasured forever.
Later, Nancy and Ed returned to Milwaukee to be closer to family, where Nancy met her dear friend Betty. Known affectionately as "the Golden Girls," the two shared many laughs and enjoyed everything The Regency had to offer-from exercise classes, choir, and walks, to shows and their favorite, Monday night bingo.
Nancy was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Edward J. Schmidt Sr. She is lovingly remembered by her children Edward J. Schmidt Jr., David J. Schmidt (Jeannine), Lisa Ertl (Paul Koch), and Suzanne Carney (Stuart Reichl); her cherished grandchildren Elizabeth, Katie, Pam, Dan, Sarah, Kyle, and Ryan; and her adored great-grandchildren Addison, Mason, Grayson, Jack, Finnley, Oliver, Quinnlyn, Maddox, Delaney, and William.
Nancy's warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Visitation will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park Cemetery at 2pm.
