Al was born October 24, 1959 to Cora & James Williams. He lived his early childhood in Fargo, GA and moved to Jasper in 1968. Having deep family roots in Dahlonega GA, he loved to spend all the time he could in the mountains with his family.
Al was married to Tessy Webb for 35 years until her passing in 2014. Al worked for 42 years at Occidental Chemical Corp/PCS Phosphate Nutrien which allowed him to provide a great life for his family, he retired in 2021 as a 1st class Electrician. He was a Free & Accepted Mason for over 20 years, an extremely talented musician-excelling as a guitarist. Al was highly intelligent, with a photographic memory, and a knowledge base that was unmatched by most. He was a Jack of all trades but a master of automotive mechanics.
In 2017 he started a new chapter of his life, he met a wonderful, patient, tolerant, kind & loving woman named Sue. Al & Sue married in 2020 & they lived together in Gainesville, GA. Al was finally back in the North GA mountains where he always felt he belonged. With Sue by his side every step of the way, he fought a long tough battle with Colon Cancer. At home surrounded by loved ones, he peacefully succumbed to the disease Saturday, January 24, 2026.
Al is survived by his wife, Sue Williams of Gainesville, GA; 3 daughters; Shirley Williams (Brian), Sue Thornbury, Stephanie Zipperer all of Jasper, FL - 9 grandchildren - Katie Cribbs (Zach), Cody Izell, Tyler Fennell, Berry Roberson, Eragon Smith, Ariel Plemmons (Nate), Bailey Thornbury & Erin Zipperer, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 sister Gayle Trinder (Bill) of Statenville GA & many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Al was a member of Murrayville Baptist Church, he loved & was loved by his church family including Pastor Adam Southerland who will officiate the funeral services on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside service & Interment will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Hebron Cemetery in Jasper, FL.
