Claude Buchanan Obituary

Claude "Emmett" Buchanan, born on May 2, 1963, in Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on January 9, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 61 years old.

Emmett was the son of Floyd Buchanan, who preceded him in death, and Virginia Ray Crawford of Rockmart, Georgia. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Amanda Ray Buchanan of Orange Park, Florida; his sister, Diana Page of Acworth, Georgia; and his brother, Toby Edmonds of Rockmart, Georgia. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Scott Moss and Wayne Moss. Emmett leaves behind a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A man of many passions and talents, Emmett enjoyed outdoor activities such as gardening and fishing. He cherished time spent in the mountains of North Georgia, a place that always felt like home to him. An avid collector and admirer of "old things," he could often be found exploring antique stores and flea markets in search of hidden treasures.

Emmett had a deep love for rock music and was a devoted fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Ted Nugent. As a child, he corresponded with Evel Knievel, one of his heroes. Later in life, while working in hotel management in Atlanta, Emmett had the chance to meet Evel Knievel in person. Their connection grew into a friendship that lasted until Evel's passing in 2007.

In his youth, Emmett developed a passion for horses and spent years grooming, training and riding them in the Hunters and Jumpers equestrian disciplines. Over the course of his life, he pursued a variety of careers including hotel housekeeping management, district management of janitorial services, and serving as an OSHA-trained construction inspector and trainer for HRH Safety & Health Systems.

Emmett will be remembered as a kind-hearted and generous man who never met a stranger. His warmth and friendliness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
