Timothy William Palmer, age eighty-four (84), passed away on March 5, 2026 at his home in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, on February 17, 1942, to the late Bunner D. He is survived by two sons, Gregory Palmer of Charlotte, NC, and Stephen Palmer of Hollywood, CA; and daughter, Lynna Palmer Moen. He is also survived by stepdaughters Susan (Thirasit) Insisiengmay and Kristen (Andy) Titus, and eight grandchildren: Emma Moen, Jacob Palmer, Jackson Moen, Mason Lee, Chloe I., Carter I., Noah A., and Tegan N. Cherishing his memory are his brother, Dana Neil Palmer of New Market, and sister, Judy Brand of Philadelphia, PA, along with nieces and nephews Liane, Jeff, Rodney, Meredith, Jamie, and Joe. In addition to his parents and wife, Tim was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Nancy Burnham. Tim graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School in Nutter Fort, WV. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Robert A. Owens, where he participated in the Cuban Missile blockade. During the 1980s, Tim founded Palmer Educational Systems and continued his career in education with several stints abroad during the 1990s. Mr. Palmer retired as a technology teacher in northern Virginia. Throughout his life, Tim had a passion for music and leading youth sports. He was an expert saxophone player and participated in respected bands throughout his youth and adulthood. He never missed an opportunity to play his harmonica along with live music. In his younger days, Tim was an avid hunter and fisherman, with hunting remaining a significant part of his life until he could no longer partake. Tim loved tinkering, fixing things, and modifying them using his unique genius and ingenuity. He had numerous hobbies throughout his life. Known for his sociable nature, Tim never met a stranger. After retirement, he successfully ran for and served on the New Market Virginia Town Council, where he took pride in his involvement in the town's infrastructure expansion and development.
