Ken Parrett Obituary

Mr. Kenneth W. Parrett, 89 of Somerset, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at The Neighborhood of Somerset Assisted Living Facility. He was born June 1,1936 to the late Claude and Sadie Barnes Parrett at Pine Hill in Rockcastle County, KY. He married Nancy Ellen Stubblefield and together they shared 64 years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters. Ken enjoyed flying airplanes, especially enjoyed giving his friends and family rides in his 1939 J-3 Cub. He was veteran of the US Air Force, the owner of S&P Aviation for many years, and retired as a private commercial pilot.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Ellen Stubblefield Parrett; his daughters: Sandy (Martin) Colyer, Kenda (Jeff) Lefler; his grandchildren: Logan Rice, Jessica (Cole) Meece, Brandon Colyer, Kenny Colyer and Lauren Rice; his great-grandchildren: Arlo, Amos and Ansel Meece; and sisters Eddie Neese and Teresa Parrett. In addition to his parents, Claude and Sadie Barnes Parrett, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Verla (Jack) Clifford and Doris (Bill) Cash; a brother-in-law, Waylon Neese; a nephew, Roger Clifford; and a niece, Cindy Cash.

A visitation for Mr. Parrett was held Saturday, January 31 at Dowell & Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
