JONESBORO - Lorraine Sharon Orr, 81, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at The Cottages of Belle Meade in Paragould. She was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Long Island, N.Y., to the late Mary Dayton and Elwood Dayton Sr.
Lorraine spent her childhood growing up in Long Island, N.Y., but has lived in Arkansas for 60 years and was a member of Family Fellowship Baptist Church in Jonesboro. She had a bachelor's degree in social work and devoted many years to the Jonesboro School System for work. She was dedicated to both her church and her family, and also loved animals.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Larry Russell Orr.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Doug) Formon of Jonesboro; brother, Elwood Dayton Jr. of Jonesboro; granddaughter, Lindsay (Mike) Williamson of Jonesboro; great-grandsons, Haiden, Henry, and Harris, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
The family also wants to say a special thank you to the staff at Belle Meade in Paragould for their excellent care and compassion.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, at Family Fellowship Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
Funeral service will follow the visitation at 10 a.m. with Dr. Ferrell Duffel officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Jeff Vernon, Andy Watkins, Roger Herron, Michael Clay, Michael Williamson, and Jim Barlow.
Due to Lorraine's love of animals, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, 6111 E. Highland Drive, Jonesboro, Ark., 72401.
