Woodrow Buchanan April 6, 2024
ELIZABETHTON - Woodrow Buchanan, 76, Elizabethton passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024 in the Ivy Hall Nursing Home. He was a native of Franklin, NC and was a son of the late Clifford and Hettie Murphy Buchanan. Woodrow retired from the V.A. Medical Center. He was an avid car enthusiast, loved Oldsmobile's, loved going to car shows in Pigeon Forge and Myrtle Beach, SC. Woodrow was a kind soul. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard E. Buchanan; three half-brothers, Eddie Lee Buchanan, Clifford "Babe" Buchanan and Ivens "Buck" Buchanan; a half-sister, Janice Butler and a brother-in-law, L.G. Thomas.
Survivors include his sister, Bessie Thomas of Johnson City; a brother, Nat Buchanan and his wife, Janice of Colonial Heights; two stepsons, Brad Hacker of Colorado and Steven Hacker od Moscow, Idaho; also, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Woodrow will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 11, 2024 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Rev. Bobby Campbell and Rev. E.L Wheeler officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the service hour. Special music by Queenie Wheeler.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2024 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. For those attending please meet at the cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home in Elizabethton for the wonderful care they provided.
