William David Horn

June 20, 1954 -

June 2, 2025

ERWIN - William David Horn, 70, lovingly known by many as "Dave", of Erwin, TN, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the James H. Quillen Community Living Center Hospice Wing, Mountain Home, following an extensive battle with cancer.

Dave was born June 20, 1954, in San Antonio, TX, to parents William "Bill" Herbert and Mary Elizabeth Horn.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force, then worked at the V.A. in the Engineering Department, with his most recent position in transport, retiring in 2014 following forty years of service at Mountain Home. During those years, Dave made many friends and supported our veterans with much pride.

In addition to his parents, Bill and Mary Horn, he is preceded in death by his wife, Wendie Celeste Horn.

Dave is survived by his two sisters, Lynett Douglas and husband Eddie, and Donna Horn; two nephews, Clint Douglas and wife Suzanne, Tyler Douglas and wife Erin; one niece, Kasey Duncan and husband Derek; seven great-nieces and nephews, Kaelyn, Keaton and Avery Duncan, Emma, Cora, Sloane and Cole Douglas; Special mention to dear friends, Tammy Sherfey, Deb Beckman, and Kat Whittemore. Special thanks to his wonderful neighbors, Brian Tingler, Zack and Melinda Owenby.

The committal service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 3:00 P.M., in the Historic Site of Mountain Home National Cemetery, with Chaplain Sallie Biles, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by members of the United States Air Force Funeral Honors Team and the Veterans Honor Guard of the Tri-Cities, and escorted by the Dog Tag Brigade (motorcycle club). Those planning to attend are requested to meet at the cemetery by 2:45 P.M. Thursday.

Those who prefer to make donations in-lieu-of flowers may do so in Dave's memory to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 223, Erwin, TN 37650.
