JOHNSON CITY - Wesley Dwayne Spurlock, lovingly known as Wes, passed away on June 6, 2023, in Johnson City, TN. Born on July 3, 1967, in Washington County, TN, Wes was the son of the late Fred Spurlock and Vivian B. Lett.
Wes is survived by his devoted wife, Amy Laws. He was the father of Ben, Brandon, Brett, and Brad Spurlock, as well as stepchildren James, Allen, and Heather Laws. He was the brother of Les Spurlock, Shawn Hilbert, Wayburn Harris, and Stephanie Thompson. He was the grandfather of 10 grandchildren and the uncle of several nieces and nephews. The family has fond memories of their time together and Wes's adventurous spirit.
After attending Daniel Boone High School, Wes went on to become a skilled woodsman in the community. He spent much of his free time hunting roots, an activity he found both challenging and rewarding. As a result, he developed a keen understanding and deep appreciation for the natural world.
Wes attended Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, where he found solace and consistently sought spiritual growth. His generous heart and wise nature endeared him to many, as he selflessly served his church and community.
Adventurous, wise, and generous are just a few words that come to mind when remembering Wes, but they only scratch the surface of who he was. Wes's memory will be cherished, and his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched by his unwavering love and support. The tight-knit family and community who loved him dearly will miss him greatly.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Snyder's Memorial. A funeral service to honor the life of Wes will follow with Evangelist Charles "Toonie" Cash officiating.
