ELIZABETHTON - Wayne C. Boeker, age 90, of Elizabethton, formerly of Chicago, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a son of the late Charles and Helen Jording Boeker and was born in Clinton County, IL on March 7, 1934. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome Boeker.

Wayne retired from ABF Freight as a tractor trailer driver after thirty years. He had his private pilot license earlier in his life and enjoyed flying. He was a member of Teamsters Local #705 and was the past president of Teamsters Local #549 retirees. He was also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Johnson City.

Wayne never met a stranger and enjoyed telling jokes and having breakfast with his friends at Bojangles and Southern Restaurant. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Marilyn A. Boeker of the home; a son, Everett Smith (Lori) of Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Lindsey Oxendine (Gabe) of Watauga; two great-grandsons, Oliver Oxendine and Theo Oxendine; soon-to-be great-grandchild, Darcie Oxendine; a brother, Orville Boeker of Hoffman, IL; a sister, Hazel Neumann of southern IL; a niece, Lisa Forehand (L.D.); a nephew, Tim Kruse (Sherry); and special family, Neal Smith and Jeanette Deutschman. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend Vincent Shemwell officiating. The graveside service will follow the funeral at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
