Warren Torbett, 90, Piney Flats, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at his home.

He was the son of the late Millard and Ollie Hicks Torbett and lived in Piney Flats for most of his life.

Warren was a faithful member of Edgefield Methodist Church, where he had served in many roles and had been able to attend services until this past December.

He proudly served in the United States Airforce during the Korean Conflict as Airman 1st Class, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, and then as an instructor for airflight and aircraft mechanics during the remainder of his assignment at Amarillo Airforce Base in Texas.

Warren was a retired businessman and was able to enjoy his love for restoring antique cars until he became disabled in 2016. He found a new home for his favored 1957 Chevrolet Belair just weeks prior to his death.

In addition to his parents, Warren was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Gay Lynn Torbett, grandson, Timothy Jordan Godsey, 2 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Vickie Booth Torbett; 4 grandchildren, Morgan Taylor Parker (Michael), Andrew Hunter Godsey (fiancé, Nikki Thompson), Shelby Hatton Houdeshell (Ty), and Jasmin Victoria Hatton; 2 great grandchildren, Lillian Franklin Parker and Landon Beckett Parker; step daughter, Sarah Hatton (Shaun); 2 special cousins, Ellen Torbett and Pat Powell, who have been so thoughtful and kind during this time; several nieces and nephews; and caring, helpful friends.

The celebration of life service for Warren will be conducted Thursday, March 5, 2026, 2:00pm at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with Pastor Estel Williams, officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in Edgefield Methodist Church Cemetery, Piney Flats.
