Mont C. Rollins Jr.
Born: September 25, 1932 | Died: October 18, 2025
Mont C. Rollins, Jr., 93, of the Sunnyside Community in Greeneville, passed away Saturday afternoon at his home.
He attended and was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Sunnyside until his health did not permit him. He was Sunday morning Superintendent and an avid member of the choir. He was a co-founder of the Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department. He served as Chief and Honorary Chief for many years. He retired from Phillips Electronics where he worked for 39 years. He worked at South Greene High School in the special education department to assist with his nephew during his high school years. He served his country in the United States Air Force and the Tennessee Air National Guard for 32 years. He served his county as a Greene County Commissioner for 34 years.
He was a mason for over 50 years and a member of Beersheba Lodge.
He enjoyed gardening, Atlanta Braves baseball, singing with choirs at nursing homes and recording a CD of his favorite hymns to give away as his tool of evangelism in serving his Lord.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years: Betty Rollins; two daughters: Teresa Eisenhower and Sharon Rollins; brother: Ronnie Rollins; grandchildren: Rachel and Spencer Hodges, Christina and Kyle Parton Corie and Jackson Oster; great-grandchildren: Autumn Eisenhower, Zayne Hodges, Kash Parton, Cason Oster and Hayes Oster; several special nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father: Mont C. Rollins, Sr., mother: Ruby Rollins; sister: Maxine Harrison; brother: Jerry Rollins; and son-in-law: Ritchie Eisenhower.
Special thanks to Jessie Johnson, Charity Phillips, Bill Haney, Melvin and Betty Harrison, the church family of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Chuck Chappell, Laughlin Healthcare-East Wing, Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice, Jake Keasling and the Friday night singing group, his fellow servicemen from the Tennessee Air National Guard and no way to mention all the friends who touched him throughout his life.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25th, in the chapel of Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Lindy, Rev. Martha Beamer and Rev. Dustin DeBord will be officiating the service. Interment will be in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Spencer Hodges, Kyle Parton, Jackson Oster, Greg Rollins, Wayne Phillips and Jessie Johnson.
