Virginia Bailey Obituary
ERWIN - Virginia Lee Bailey, age 78, of Erwin, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Life Care Center of Gray, after a long, courageous battle. A native of Unicoi County, Virginia is a daughter of the late Robert "Bascon" and Edith (Davis) Gouge. She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a member of Pathway Free Will Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. Virginia was a hairdresser for 30 years. She loved the Lord and cared for everyone. In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Gouge and Raymond Gouge.
Virginia Lee Bailey has left behind to cherish her memory: husband of 60 years, Junior Lee Bailey, son, Mike Bailey and wife, Tierra; grandchildren: Phillip Bailey and Seth Powers; great-grandchildren: Gunner Bailey and Avarie Bailey; sisters: Norma Gouge, Judy Gouge and Marie Gouge; brother, Bob Gouge; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Life Care Center of Gray for the kindness and care provided during this difficult time.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Virginia Lee Bailey in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 12:00 pm and will continue until service time on Wednesday. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home for the 1:00 pm service. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Gouge, Nathan Gouge, Phillip Bailey, Seth Powers, Rickey Moffitt, and James Light.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to Valley Funeral Home.
