Vernon "David" Ford went home to Jesus on October 23, 2023. David was born on February 13, 1949, in Washington County to Glenn L. Ford and Julia Ann Ford.
David was a deeply spiritual man who shared God's love with others. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and was loved and admired by many.
When David wasn't sharing his love for the Lord, you could find him on a golf course with best friends, watching Tennessee Football, or playing with his grandchildren. He was a retired teacher and esteemed coach at Boones Creek Middle School and Daniel Boone High School.
David was an example of a man driven by his purpose and faith in God. He would always challenge those around him to seek the love and acceptance of God so they could have eternal life with our loving Father.
David's legacy will live on in his books that he wrote and the memories he made with those who had the privilege to know him. He will be remembered as a loving husband, stepfather, "Gump," (grandfather), nephew, cousin and friend.
David is survived by his loving wife, Lydia Sonneberger Ford; stepdaughter, Judith "Maci" Ferguson and husband, Andrew Ferguson; stepson, Robert "Seth" Dempsey Sonneberger and partner, Josh Jordano; and grandchildren, Eli David Ferguson (age 4) and Nora Grace Ferguson (age 2).
In the wise words of David, "The greatest day of a Christian's life is the day they die. They are now with Jesus, and they wouldn't come back to this earth if they could."
