Vernon Fair Obituary
February 2, 1939 -
May 7, 2025
JONESBOROUGH - Mr. Vernon Fillmore Fair Jr., a retired veteran, age 86 of Jonesborough, passed away on May 7, 2025, during a stop in Meridian, Mississippi, while traveling on vacation to the Grand Canyon.
Mr. Fair was born on February 2, 1939, in Carter County, Tennessee to the late Vernon Fillmore Fair, Sr. & Mae Taylor Fair. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Wilson, brother, Packy Fair, and a son, Robbie Miller.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran entering the service on January 17, 1961. During his 20 years in the military, he was a paramedic, coroner, lab technician and an instructor. Following his retirement from the military, Mr. Vernon worked at Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton as a Lab Technician.
Mr. Fair attended ETSU from October 1958 through June 1959 and went on to Southern School of Medical Technology in Bennettsville, South Carolina from 1959 to September 1960, where he received his Lab Technology certification.
Survivors include his wife, Dortha June Turbyfill Fair, Jonesborough; children, Charles Fair (Angela), Melaine Fair Roberts, Sandra Henley (Mark), Larry Miller, Terry Miller and Patricia Roberts; brother, Tommy Fair (Debbie); sister, Joyce Stevenson; sister-in-law, Darrell Fair; grandchildren, Shelby Fair, Dylan Roberts, Noland Roberts, Brandon Henley, Brett Henley, and April Campillo (Mike); great-grandchildren, Raelyn Roberts, Madison Henley, Charlie Campillo, Elizabeth Henley, Elijah Henley, Leo Henley, and Aaron Henley; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:30 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 PM, Thursday prior to the service.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be family & friends.
