CHUCKEY - Verlin Lee Gentry, age 69, of Chuckey, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Greeneville, Tennessee, a son of Carson Gentry and Martha Landers Gentry. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Julie Ann Gentry; and one sister, Laura Kimery.
Verlin was a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. He worked in housekeeping at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Greeneville. Before his time at the hospital, he worked at Meco. Verlin loved spending time with his family, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Gentry; one son, Jason Gentry; father, Carson Gentry; one brother, James Gentry; three sisters, Rebecca Decker, Sheila Gentry, and Mary Lou Britton; sister-in-law, Judy Hammer Wilchinski; four special nephews, Tim Lamb, Jeff Lamb, Jesse Wilchinski, and Jordan Wilchinski; one special niece, Sara Lamb Barnett; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their thanks to Marty and Rhonda Hensley, Josh Stout, and to the staff at the Life Care Center of Greeneville for all the love and care that was shown.
