JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Thomas L. "Tom" Smith, age 83, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at The Waters of Johnson City.
He was the son of the late William Bufford and Ruth Conner Smith.
Thomas was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in San Fransisco and San Diego, California.
He was a graduate of Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University. He retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Jilton, one brother, Charles B. "Charlie" Smith and brother-in-law, Clement Wilson.
He is survived by one sister, Charlotte Wilson, Knoxville; sister-in-law, Charlotte Patterson Smith, Johnson City; brother-in-law, Joe Jilton, Johnson City; one niece and several nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 3:30 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Philadelphia Cemetery with Mr. Larry Jilton officiating.
