Thomas Anthony Powers, Sr.

August 20, 1926 -

March 1, 2025

ELIZABETHTON - Thomas Anthony Powers Sr., age 98, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Abundant Christian Living. Thomas was born on August 20, 1926 in Rochester, NY to the late Walter Powers and Helen Adams Powers.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, James Powers; sister, Marge Williamson; granddaughter Tamsen Powers.

Thomas was a proud WWII Veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal. He later retired as a Union Brick layer. Thomas was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He would spend some of his free time playing golf on the Elizabethton Golf Course and was a prior member of the golf course.

Those left to cherish the memory of Thomas include his son, Thomas A. Powers, Jr. and wife Vicki of Knoxville; daughter, Patty Powers and husband Robert McCormick of Hardeeville, SC; grandchildren, Tori Hughes and husband Matthew, Tessa Powers Hull and husband Joseph; five great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Thomas Anthony Powers Sr. will be conducted at 2:00PM on Friday, March 28, 2025 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside. Those wishing to be a part of this service are asked to meet at the cemetery no later than 1:50PM on Friday.
