JOHNSON CITY - Thomas "Tommy" Michael, age 78, of Johnson City, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on February 7, 1947 to the late Nicholas Fudd Michael and Dorothy Edna Bowling Michael. In addition to his parents, Tommy was also preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Hull.

Tommy received Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 14 at Unaka Baptist Church. A lifelong resident of Johnson City, he had been a devoted member of Pinecrest Baptist Church since 1954. Tommy found great joy in serving his church, especially through the music ministry which was close to his heart. He also had a passion for cooking, often sharing his delicious meals with family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and took joy in canning his garden vegetables and fruits. Tommy retired as the owner and operator of Wooden Nook Restaurant.

Those left to cherish and remember Tommy include two nieces, Teresa Baumann of Greeneville and Dr. Lisa Ann (Johnnie) Quinn of Sarasota, Florida; and three great nephews, Nick J. Baumann, Mike J. Baumann and Bill J. Baumann.

A service to celebrate Tommy's life will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Reverend Garry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Thursday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Nick J. Baumann, Mike J. Baumann, Bill J. Baumann, Johnnie Quinn, Fred Malone, Ian Quinn and Sam Dalton. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM on Friday.
