JOHNSON CITY - Thomas "Tom" H. Holland, 86, Johnson City passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Lakebridge Healthcare. He was born December 29, 1936, the second of four children to the late Perry and Mary Hendrix Holland in Afton, Tennessee. Tom attended Happy Valley School from the first grade to graduation. He also attended ETSU. He was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army, fulfilling an 8-year obligation, 2 years ROTC, 2 years active duty, 2 years active reserve and 2 years standby reserve. Tom's life's work was a Facilities Engineer having worked for Johnson City Memorial Hospital for 23 years and Asbury Center Nursing Home for 18 years. He was a musician and singer and had been a member of three country bands, The Crossroad Boys, The Cherokee Mountain Ramblers and The Country Classics. Tom was also a proud member of The Harvey Family Singers a southern gospel group for 25 years.
Tom married the love of his life Connie Stout on September 28, 1968. God blessed them with a daughter, Kimberly Kay on March 26, 1970. God called Connie home January 10, 2018 after 49 years, 3 months and 13 days of a blessed marriage.
Tom accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on October 6, 1950. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, Downtown Christian Church and currently Lone Oak Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Camilla "Connie" Stout Holland in 2018; a brother, Jack Holland; a sister, Ann Oakes and a sister-in-law, Pauline Holland.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Holland Clark and her husband, Russell of Johnson City; a grandson, Eagle Scout Avery Clark; a brother, Lynn Holland; an uncle, T.C. Hendrix; also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Tom will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, December 22, 2023 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Mr. Tom Morrison officiating. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 AM inside the cemetery entrance to go in procession to the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
