Theresa L. Jones, age 73, passed from this life into glory on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Unicoi County on November 1, 1950, to the late Glenn & Gladys F. Bailey, and lived in Erwin most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David L. Jones in 2014.
Theresa worked for the Unicoi County Election Commission for many years until retirement, at which time she became a devoted long-term caregiver to both her husband and mother.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and church. Theresa always loved the opportunity to share her time with others, enjoying the moments she got to laugh and joke with others. She cared deeply about her church family at First Baptist Church in Erwin and was active there until she was unable to attend due to illness. Those who were blessed to have known Theresa had the opportunity to experience agape love.
Theresa was a lover of those with four legs as well. It was not unusual to find a card sitting in her home with a picture of a cat or dog on it at any given time since everyone knew just how much she loved them. She has a special place in her heart for her cat, Snow, and her very special dog-child, Luke.
Those left to cherish Theresa's memories are siblings, Glenna (Bill) Laughrun, Robert (Teresa) Bailey, and Andra (Keith) Thomas; her son, Israel (Paula) Jones; nephew, Derick (Amy) Cook; nieces, Sara Heaton, and Bailey Thomas; grandnephews, Isaac Cook, and Ellick Arturo; and her bonus granddaughters, Emily, and Ella Jones.
The family would like to thank Theresa's loving church family, who visited and prayed for her; the wonderful neighbors, who cooked, visited, and loved her; and Amedisys Hospice for their excellent and loving care in Theresa's final days.
A Graveside Service to honor the life of Theresa will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fishery Community Church Cemetery, located at 501 Fishery Community Church Rd, Erwin, TN 37650.
