JOHNSON CITY - Thelma Corby, age 84, of Johnson City, ascended to her heavenly home on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Lakebridge Healthcare Center in Johnson City.
She was a Unicoi County native and the daughter of the late Earl Hill, Sr., and Millie Stanley Hill. She was preceded in death by her beloved only son Phillip Corby in 2003. Also, preceding her in death were three brothers and one sister.
She was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church in Johnson City.
Thelma worked for several years at First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City in the hospitality/kitchen service where she made many friends. She will be remembered mostly for the wonderful woman of God that she was. Thelma never missed a chance to witness and try to bring others to Christ, constantly sending cards and making telephone calls. OH, WHAT HEAVEN HAS GAINED!!
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Harold Corby; daughter, Sharon Harting, and her husband Kevin; granddaughter, Shaunna Cloud, and her husband Shane; great-grandson, Wesley Clever; sisters, Lennie Woodby and Lurlia Snapp; brother, Dean Hill, and his wife Rebecca. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews that she adored.
She also leaves behind her precious pets, Tweeters and Sunshine, who brought so much joy to her life.
Per her wishes, there will be no formal service. The family will conduct a private service at a later.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakebridge for their wonderful care and special thanks to her great-niece, Christie Snapp Pohto for her unwavering love and compassion for Thelma.
