July 21, 1952 - August 25, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Jeanne Archer, a lifelong resident of Jonesborough, Tennessee. Born on July 21, 1952, Susan brought immeasurable joy and love to many of the lives she touched. She graduated from Sulphur Springs School in 1970 and obtained her Bachelor's degree and teaching license from East Tennessee State University. She worked for the Jonesborough Storytelling Center before becoming a school librarian. She peacefully departed this world in her cherished home on her farm on August 25, 2023.
Susan's profound love for her grandson, Andric Yarber, was a beacon of light in her life. For nearly eight beautiful years, they embarked on adventures, shared laughter, and basked in the warmth of unconditional love. Susan's nurturing spirit shone brightly as she helped care for Andric and took him to and from forest school.
A devoted mother and mother-in-law, Susan's caring and supportive nature enriched the lives of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Her laughter was a signature of joy, uniquely resonant and infectious, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her. Susan's laughter, like her love, will forever echo in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to share in her company.
Susan's love for nature's beauty bloomed in her adoration of flowers, especially hydrangeas. She extended her nurturing nature to her numerous dogs and cats, embodying a deep wellspring of compassion. Her retirement from Daniel Boone High School as a school librarian marked the culmination of a career dedicated to inspiring young minds. Susan's passion for reading and literacy, combined with her innate ability to connect with children, left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Renowned for her kindness, Susan was a guiding light for wayward students, offering extra love and support when they needed it most. Her lifelong affection for horses earned her the endearing label of being "horse crazy," and her cherished equine companions Bajito, Tag, and Bliss have awaited her beyond the rainbow bridge.
As we navigate the void left by Susan's passing, her memory lives on in the signs of eternal love and serenity she leaves behind: the graceful flight of cardinals, the delicate flutter of butterflies, and the blooming of the flowers she cherished. Her unwavering support and encouragement for her daughter and son-in-law's endeavors will forever be remembered.
Susan joins her parents, Joyce and James Archer, in the embrace of the beyond. She is survived by her daughter, Serena Yarber, son-in-law Daryl Austin Yarber, and her adored grandson, Andric Yarber.
In the tapestry of life, Susan Jeanne Archer's thread was one of love, kindness, and boundless affection. Her memory will live on through the stories we share and the lives she enriched. May she rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the beauty she cherished.
Special thank you to those who went above and beyond at Johnson City Medical Center, Caris Healthcare, Four Oaks Healthcare, Danni of Visiting Angels, and her cherished friends, Lynn and Betty.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Susan's honor at Bent Tree Spring Farm on Saturday, September 2, 2023, from 6-8 pm. Her wish to be amongst the flowers will be fulfilled, and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and a meal for a picnic in her memory.
