Steven Gregory Sutphin

JOHNSON CITY - Steven Gregory Sutphin, 74, Johnson City passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 12, 2025 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and was a son of the late Charles Raymond Sutphin and Mamie Ellen Wilson Sutphin. Steven was a farmer and had retired from the Washington County Waste Management after many years of employment.

Steven enjoyed spending time with his friends. He never met a stranger. Steven loved working on his farm, buying farm equipment, restoring it for resale. He enjoyed attending cattle auctions. You could always see him bailing hay. Steven loved going out to eat. He will be missed by all of his friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, George "Bill" Sutphin, Raymond Edward Sutphin, Carl Bobby Sutphin and James "Jim" Sutphin; a sister, Helen Valerie Sutphin Guinn; his girlfriend of 19 years, Janet Burgess; a niece, Judy Carolyn Miller Bowman.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Ann Sutphin Edwards of Johnson City; a brother, Richard Morgan Sutphin of Johnson City; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Sutphin of Johnson City and Joanne Sutphin of Unicoi; also several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Steven will be conducted at 10:00 AM Friday, April 18, 2025 at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Roan Street, Johnson City with Rev. Mike Dickenson officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from the family and friends. For those attending this service you are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:50 AM.

I remember Steve . I would see around back in the ole days . At the Ole Mountaineer and bailing hay for Arnold Wiseman , and Jeff . When I
worked at Wisemans Clothing Store . Those were great times . Steve was a
good hard working Farm .
