July 2, 1949 – September 7, 2023
GRAY - Steve Gregory, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 7th, 2023 at the age of 74. He was surrounded by the love of his family as he peacefully entered eternal rest.
Steve was born to Gene and Joan Gregory, in a close-knit family that instilled in him the values of love, compassion, and dedication. He joined his parents and brother, Robert Gregory, in heaven, where they await joyful reunions.
Steve is survived by his three children, Nicole Ferguson, Jacob Gregory (Kasey), and Christina Gregory (Billy). His love for them knew no bounds, and he took immense pride in watching them grow.
He is also survived by his sister Jeana Sue Gregory, whose bond with Steve was unbreakable. Their shared experiences and unwavering support for each other throughout life's journey was a testament to the strength of family.
Steve's heart overflowed with love for his grandchildren: Chelsea, (Matt), Jeremy (Dani), Sierra (Jaleel), Isaiah, Dakota, Ella, Will, Tatum, and Billy "Wiggles". He cherished every moment spent with them and was a source of guidance, laughter, and endless love. In addition to his grandchildren, Steve was blessed with great-grandchildren Shiloh, Ja'seh, and Raven.
Steve's love extended far beyond his immediate family. He had a special place in his heart for his three nephews and a multitude of others whom he embraced and loved as if they were his own. His generosity, kindness, and warmth touched the lives of many. Among all the titles Steve carried throughout his life, "Papaw" was his absolute favorite. His role as a grandfather was one that he treasured above all else.
Steve's life was marked by a deep sense of duty and service. He proudly served in the Army, with deployments in Germany and Korea, and courageously fought in the Vietnam War. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his sacrifice for freedom will never be forgotten. Additionally, while stationed in Germany, Steve indulged his passion for racing cars and upon returning home, he continued racing in Bulls Gap showcasing his fearlessness and love for speed on the racetrack.
To honor Steve's life and love he shared with everyone he touched, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 16th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Oasis Church in Boones Creek. We invite all who knew and loved him to come together, share stories, and remember a man whose impact will continue to be felt in the hearts of those he left behind.
Steve's legacy of love, laughter, and boundless kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
