Sophia Lynnette Ball, 57, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on September 17th, 2025, at her residence, with her family beside her.

Sophia had a wide range of interests throughout her life. She had driven countless miles as an over-the-road professional driver and loved the sights and people she would meet on every trip. Another one of her great interests was coaching and umpiring for Little League. She also had a green thumb and would love working in her flower beds and gardening, watching the butterflies enjoying her labor of gardening. However, most of all, Sophia was a devout Christian and would tell everyone about her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of the Highland Church of Christ, where she enjoyed being around her church family and close friends.

Sophia is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Alta and Roberth Holland, Rebecca and John Ball Jr., her aunts, Thema Smith and Betty Stephens, and her uncle, Alan Hughes.

She is survived by her parents, Sharon and Charles Ball, her brother, Troy (Stephene) Ball, along with several cousins, nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2025, from 5 – 7 pm, at Appalachian Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Johnson City, and the celebration of Sophia's homegoing will be held following the visitation with the Reverend Clint Edwards officiating.

The graveside committal service will be on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at 11 am at Fairview Cemetery, 1003 Leesburg Road, Jonesborough, Tennessee.
