JONESBOROUGH - Shirley Ann Lane, 81, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 28, 2023, after a brief stay in the Johnson City Medical Center, with her family by her side.
She was born in Johnson City; however, she resided in the same home for the last 50 years in Jonesborough.
She graduated from University School in 1960. She was mainly a stay-at-home mom, who loved to cook and take care of her family. She spent five years as the transit driver for the Johnson City Seniors Center. She was a member of the Embreeville Church of Christ in Erwin. She was also a member of the Lamar Community Ruritan Club.
Shirley was preceded in death by: her father, Jeter P. Barnett; mother, Jesse Slagle Barnett; brothers, Lloyd, Hubert, and Clifford Barnett; sisters, Neil Andes and Christine Barnett; and her daughter-in-law, Misty Lane.
Survivors include: her husband, Gordon Lane; children, Jeff Lane, Lisa Story and her husband Jerry, Jimmy Lane and his wife Deborah, and Billy Lane; grandchildren, Jonathon Story, Brittany Dugger, Andrew Lane, Berkley Lane, Tyler Jones, Joey Lane, and Samantha Lane; great-grandchildren, Jon Story, Sarah Grace Story, Ivan Kyker, Presley Kyker, Abigail Dugger, Fletcher Lane, and Kingston Lane.
The family of Shirley Lane will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 PM with Ministers Matt Fisher and Scott Phillips officiating. Pallbearers will include Jonathon Story, Andrew Lane, Joey Lane, J.J. Casey, Ronnie Mullins, and Gary Hill.
The committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
