Shirley Allen Obituary

Funeral Services for Shirley Mae Maples Allen, age 88, of Arlington, TN, who passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, will be held Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel in Picayune, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 1st, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at McDonald Funeral Home, 401 W. Canal St., Picayune, MS. 39466. A short Service will follow the visitation from 11:00 am – 11:40 am.

Burial will be at Crossroads Pentecostal Cemetery, 155 Bill Holland Rd. Lucedale, MS,39452 under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Estimated to start around 1:30 – 2:00 pm.

A native of Mobile, AL, Ms. Allen worked for many years in the hotel industry in Guest relations, Front desk and PBX Operator. Miss Shirley was a member of Bartlett Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN. She was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and the New Orleans Saints.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Eddley Maples and Willie Mae Gibson Maples; her husband, Herbert C. Allen, Sr.; her son, Herbert C. Allen, Jr.; and her brothers, John Maples and Larry Hodges.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Charlene McGallagher; her brother, Edward Entrekin; her daughters, Sharon K. Harris , Cathy (Steve) Marie Edwards, and Christine (Eric) A. Evans; her sons, David F. Allen, and Jim (Kim) Huffman; and her 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that charitable contributions to be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
