JONESBOROUGH - Sherrill Dean Tipton, 85, of Jonesborough, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, 2023, after a battle with poor health.
Sherrill is survived by his sweetheart of nearly seven decades, Connie Francis Tipton; his sons, Ronald Tipton and Robert Tipton, and their beloved wives Rhonda and Myra; his grandchildren, Logan Tipton and his wife Carly; Lucas Tipton and his wife Tracy; and Landon Tipton.
Sherrill was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Sparks Tipton; his father, Jack Tipton; his brother, Gerald Tipton; and his sister, Jacqueline Tipton, who all wait for him in Heaven.
Sherrill served in the Army and National Guard for eight years and was a machinist at Raytheon for 40 years. A devoted Christian, he was a deacon at Midway Baptist Church for over 20 years. Sherrill loved gardening, woodworking, and fishing. He was a pillar of the community, and his life was a testament to his Christian faith, his family, and compassion for others.
Funeral services will be held at Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City, Tennessee, on November 28th. The viewing will be held from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, followed by the funeral officiated by Pastor Bill Taylor.
Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City, Tennessee, on Wednesday, November 29th, at 2:00pm with military honors bestowed by the DAV Chapter 39.
May Sherrill enter the Kingdom of Heaven carrying the love of his family but unburdened by the pain of this world.
